Delete a workspace

Empty a workspace and permanently delete it with its nested workspaces.

Delete a workspace

Deleting a workspace permanently deletes it and every workspace nested below it. The action cannot be undone.

Before deleting, move or delete every live artifact in the workspace and its nested workspaces. Atlan rejects deletion when any workspace in the subtree still contains artifacts.

Before you begin

Confirm all of the following:

• You have permission to delete the workspace.
• The workspace is not your personal workspace or the organization root.
• The workspace and every nested workspace contain no live artifacts.

Delete the workspace

1. Open Settings from the Atlan sidebar.
2. Under Workspaces, select the workspace.
3. Open the workspace action menu beside Edit details.
4. Select Delete workspace.
5. Read the confirmation, then select Delete.

After deletion, Atlan returns you to your personal settings. The deleted workspace and its nested workspaces no longer appear in Brain or the Settings sidebar.

If deletion is blocked

What you see	What to do
Delete workspace is missing or disabled	Confirm that this is not a protected root workspace and ask a workspace owner or admin to check your permissions.
The dialog reports remaining artifacts	Delete or move the listed artifacts, then try again.
The visible workspace is empty, but deletion still fails	Check every nested workspace. At least one workspace in the subtree may still contain an artifact.
