Use a skill in Claude Desktop

Use this flow when you have reviewed a skill in Atlan and want to hand it to Claude Desktop for the current task. It starts with one selected skill; it does not configure an Atlan MCP connection.

Before you start

Confirm the skill’s workspace, source, and live version in Atlan. Install a Claude Desktop version that can accept the handoff before you continue.

Open the skill

  1. Open the skill profile in Atlan.
  2. Select Open in.
  3. Choose Open in Claude Desktop.
  4. Review the prefilled prompt in Claude Desktop before you continue.
The handoff pre-populates a prompt for the selected skill. It does not send the prompt automatically or prove that Claude Desktop installed or ran the skill.

If Claude Desktop does not open

Return to Open in and select Copy agent prompt. Paste the copied prompt into Claude Desktop, then review it before you submit it.
The handoff depends on a client that recognizes the installed deep link. If it is unavailable, use the copied prompt instead.
